Today’s advice
Some days are days. Other days are like getting slammed by a giant blob monster.
You never know what day it will be.
I finished my unplanned rewatch of The Lord of The Rings trilogy last night.
I can not believe that it has been 20 years since they were first released.
They are still entertaining, well-crafted movies that tell a pretty damned good story.
My comments over on my blurblog on this Political Wire story
Delay. Stall. Make shit up. Obfuscate. Do and say anything you can to avoid any consequence at all.
I will never be able to understand how he was able to bambozzle the country into voting him into office.
Whelp. I just destroyed by Letterboxd data base by uploading a new watchlist to my watched list instead. So, that’s cool.
This line from this LA Times article still blows my mind
Ever since he glided down that golden escalator in June 2015
How the fuck did this douche even make it past that announcement? Let alone winning the actual presidency. Mind. boggling.
This morning’s music; One of my favorite albums, that I listened to on repeat in high school.

LMAO @ Space Force. An acutal branch of the US militray.
That money could have been used to house the unhoused, fed the hungry, support those that need support.
TIL; there’s a vulture in Africa that eats, almost exclusively, bones.
How did we not realize birds were acutally dinosaurs earlier?
My Letterboxd review of Fellowship of the Ring.
Good, but could have been cut for time to make it better. I love the music.
I’ve been using ARC browser for a few days now on my M1 Macbook Air.
It’s a browser. It looks different than Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Safari. It still gets on the internet.
I’ll keep playing around with it.
My short little Letterboxd review of Prey (2022).
Good action, good CGI, believeable characters. Entertaining movie.
If your book was just one sentence…
Not a book.
Busing Migrants is Expensive
Transfers of Migrants Have Democratic Leaders Scrambling
Arizona has sent about 1,800 migrants on 50 buses to Washington, at a cost of about $4 million, the governor’s office said. Texas has spent about $13 million to drive roughly 8,000 migrants to Washington and New York.
Arizona: $2,222 per person. Texas: $1,625 per person.
I can’t help but wonder how much it would costs those states to give support to those folks to get them on their feet and part of the economy instead of busing them to Democratic states in a political stunt.
Anti Trump Strategy
Why Is There Still No Strategy Against Donald Trump?
And then once Trump is nominated, he has some chance of winning, because nobody is executing an effective strategy against him.
The effective strategy against Donald Trump is one that the media can not follow. It is the simplest strategy there is:
Do not talk about the stupid stuff he says or posts.
Only talk about the facts: his actions, his decisions.
Today’s random thought of the day
I wonder who will be considered the great thinkers of today?
Who will be the Whitman, Emerson, Hemingway?
Who will history decide speaks for our era?
We do not decide that. The future decides that.
Sales Volume Isn't Measured in Enthusiastism
Matt Birchler concluding his post about ‘smartphone enthusiasts".
I’m not saying that the Nothing Phone 1 is better than the iPhone 14 Pro, but I am saying that being an enthusiast of anything usually means appreciating things that are new and novel.
I agree. Sales volumes don’t make a phone compelling or interesting. Features, specifications, design choices, and fuctionality make a phone compelling.
The Google Pixel line of phones are great phones.
Are they the best selling phones? No.
Does that mean that they shouldn’t be considered great phones? No.
The same can be said of any number of phones that do not match the volume of sales of the iPhone. Just because a phone doesn’t sell as much as an iPhone doesn’t mean that it’s not interesting and worthy of being discussed or celebrated.
